Republicans are starting to slowly disintegrate as the messaging battle is starting to become more one sided in favor of the Democrats. Republican tea party favorites are openly rooting for a shutdown, something the public clearly does not want or have the stomach for.
Rep Mike Pence was on MSNBC saying that Democrats had to take the Republican plan as is or the Republicans would shut down the Government. These guys can't help themselves, they are zealots who are ready to take the country down the rabbit hole with them, no matter the consequences.
How int he world can they look people in the eye and say that they are being principled by shutting down the Government over a measly $30 billion? The US Government has a $1.5 Trillion budget deficit and Republicans in the House propose to pass a $61 Billion cut vs a $33 Billion cut that the President and Senate Democrats. In that context there are no difference between the two, it is a distinction without a difference.
