So tomorrow Republicans will unveil a budget that cuts $6 Trillion over ten years or $600 billion per year. This years deficit will be a purported $1.4 Trillion/ year or $14 Trillion over the next ten years.
What does this budget tell us about the Republicans in congress? It tells us that they are willing to kick Grandma to the curb, poor people and kids off Medicaid, make the Bush tax cuts permanent, and give Corporations a HUGE tax break, cutting the top rate from 35% to 25%, and still NOT balance the budget or even come close to it.
However, all is not lost according to Republicans, they are saying that the gap will be made up by the trickle down effect of the rich keeping more of their money, big businesses keeping more of their money, and blessing us worker bees by creating more jobs...We have been hearing the same song and dance for over thirty years, since Reagan, and there is no evidence that trickle down works for any sustained period of time. We have been in this endless cycle of chasing growth by cutting taxes and all it has gotten the country is more and more budget deficits.
It is simply amazing that people still believe this sales pitch, its been debunked over and over again but still raises its head year over year. Now we are at a point where taxes cannot be cut anymore without making the budget deficits even worse and Republicans are now going to double down and cut big businesses taxes even more. What is inexplicable to me is why he is not proposing even more cuts to personal rates?
