In George Orwell's book 1984, he details a world where the government has brainwashed its people into believing what is bad for them is good and what is good is bad. As such, whenever you gt a politician or public figure trying to convince us that the castor oil is actually good for us even though it tastes bad then we say it's Orwellian.
Like when conservatives say that tax cuts, decreases in government revenue, actually raises more revenue for the government, this is a great example of Orwellian memes making their way into polite conversation.
I ran across this blog from Bruce Bartlett, Reagan's primary adviser on supply side economics (Trickle Down Economics) or Voodoo economics according to most Democrats. There has much reporting in regards to this issue, with conservative politicians saying that the tax cuts paid for themselves and with conservative economists split on how much revenue the tax cuts actually garnered.
Tax Cuts and Revenues
The right wing canard that tax cuts bring in more revenues is just that a Orwellian canard that has absolutely no basis in fact.
